The big 2-0!!

What are friends for? For making you laugh when you never think you will again, for picking you up pushing you out the door and saying deal with it, so you can come back and thank them later. My best friend is turning 20 today and I wanted her to know how much I love her and have appreciated her the last few years. She's been there through the school stress, the hard times when I had noone else to turn to, she's seen me through all the boyfriends I never had in high school and has shared in all of my happiest moments! She's the kind that knows how to be silly but you know in any kind of panic moment she'll be the first to slap your face, tell you to shut up and sit down and help you get through it, because that's her job. We once dreamed of running off to USU with Martha where we could play all the time and take "day trips to Idaho!" She spent a week under a towel to avoid the sun on the best trip to Lake Powell ever, she snuck out to see Hairspray with me when I was having a bad day, and I can't count the times we skipped class, bought Cafe Rio and watched movies, just to be together and have fun. But our single greatest feat of high school will forever be Sally's birthday, while our single greatest night which we will never forget was the Beach Boys concert in our homemade go-go girls dresses where we were virtually famous! She may be a little off color, but that's why I love her, so look out world, Erin's growing up!!

The Journalist in Me

As a society our values and our acceptable standards of public behavior are continually deteriorating. We’ve progressed from wearing your Sunday best if you were simply going to the grocery store, to the type of people where we’re lucky if we’ve brushed our hair before leaving the house that morning. Not only has our standard of self-cleanliness dropped significantly, but also acceptable public behavior is constantly in turmoil. No one thinks twice to see a couple walking hand in hand down a crowded street unless that couple is comprised of two parties of the same gender. A lot of this spectacle is mostly for show and the shock value it produces and is generally a put on, in no way reflecting the person’s true sense of self or personality. Most people, while disturbed by such displays, generally shake it off and move on, which is acceptable so that they can keep their perfect cookie-cutter lives in order. One fact that even the most sheltered human being cannot deny however, is that although not all of the younger generations are displaying overtly homosexual tendencies, barriers between acceptable exhibitable behavior for young men and those for young women are being crossed. Even in some of the most supposedly “safe” areas such as BYU campus males are displaying more signs of femininity. As I waited in the hallway for the previous class to get out I observed a small group of young men, sitting and talking together. One man had his shoulder resting on the others shoulder, a bit odd I thought, but maybe they were just that close, if girls can do it with no judgments why not boys? As I continued to observe however I was taken out of my complacent, “why not” attitude to a slightly disturbed and bordering on disgusted viewpoint. As the boys continued to laugh one put his arm around the others waist and left it to sit comfortably on his opposite hip. I’m not going to hazard a guess as to these men’s sexual orientation, but simply say, let boys be boys.

Ethan update!

Well Ethan has been gone for about a week now and I've had his camera at home the whole time so that I could download the pictures and print them out. Finally I started actually doing that tonight, typical procrastination. Why is it that as humans, when we're given something to do we find any possible way to get out of it until the very last minute? That's always fascinated me for some reason. But as a product of my procrastination here are some of Ethan's pictures!!

These are old pictures of Eth and I that I also found on his camera!

Jack Johnson concert...peace and love!

He wasn't here on Halloween so we carved pumpkins a little early...as you can tell he was thrilled! ;)

Pictures!

I got the pictures from Angie a little while ago but I've been having issues figuring out how to get them into slideshow form! Plus with the holidays and everything I've been a little busy, but here ya go, finally.

These are the temple pictures, it was pretty chilly having short sleeves but it wasn't too bad with people surrounding me!

The reception was beautiful! My mom did all the decorating and designing! She's amazing! She also made most of the food! I'm sure my family helped 'cause I remember what it was like for my siblings weddings!

Thanks again to everyone who helped put this thing together and for all your love and support!!
